Our Story
Founded in 1991 by B.J. and Becky Moyer, Moyer & DesCombes Insurance was built on a passion for helping churches, nonprofits, and families protect what matters most. Through their dedication, integrity, and commitment to personalized service, they established a trusted reputation that has spanned more than 30 years.
Today, the agency proudly continues under the ownership of Denise DesCombes, carrying forward the strong foundation and values B.J. and Becky established from the very beginning. After working alongside them as a partner for more than 25 years, Denise remains committed to preserving the agency’s legacy of trusted relationships, personalized service, and community-focused care while continuing to grow and evolve to meet the changing needs of clients.
Our team is continually expanding and diversifying our product portfolio as the needs of our customers evolve. We believe the best way to serve our clients is through collaboration and specialization, which is why each member of our team brings unique expertise to the table. Every member of the Moyer & DesCombes team is licensed, knowledgeable, and dedicated to delivering consistent, first-rate service.

Denise DesCombes
Principal/Church Specialist
With 30 years of insurance experience, Denise specializes in commercial insurance at Moyer & DesCombes. She serves as a church insurance specialist, also working with commercial nonprofit insurance, colleges & schools. Through involvement in a local church and service in various ministry roles, Denise understands the need to be the best steward of your insurance dollar as well as the need for risk management. Her heart’s desire is to provide service that exceeds expectations. She and her husband are blessed with two adult sons, their beautiful wives, and the most wonderful little grandson! Away from the office, they enjoy time in the outdoors and making memories as a family.
Jan Irwin
Agent/Church
Service Specialist
Jan Irwin has worked in the insurance world for over 25 years. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 45 years; they have two adult children and are enjoying their grandchildren. She has served in a variety of areas at her church, with a special place in her heart for children. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, photography, hiking in Colorado and Arizona and sampling the local foods.
Gina Gunsallus
Agent/Commercial Specialist
Gina has worked in the commercial insurance field for over 35 years. She has experience in commercial underwriting, customer service, and marketing. When not assisting others with their business insurance needs, she volunteers at her church and in the community. Gina is married with two grown children and enjoys reading, hiking, baking, crafting, antiquing, and spending time with family.
Nelson DesCombes
Agent/Church Specialist
Nelson is a recent college graduate and now a dedicated insurance agent for Moyer & DesCombes Insurance Agency. He joined the agency in 2021 working part time through college where he gained valuable insurance experience. He values helping clients protect what matters most through tailored insurance solutions. He is an active member of his church. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and black lab. He is a lifelong Kansas City Royals fan and loves spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.
Noah DesCombes
Agent/Church Specialist
Noah joined team Moyer & DesCombes in 2020. Acquiring his insurance license while in college allowed him to begin learning the industry and serving clients. He diligently works with churches and commercial clients helping them find the best coverage to meet their needs. Noah is an active member of his church. He also enjoys completing mission work internationally. In his free time you will find Noah hunting, fishing, and soaking up time with his wife & son.
