Stand Up for Children During National Child Abuse Prevention Month

childabuse 389w
April has been declared National Child Abuse Prevention Month by presidential proclamation each year since 1983. During this time of year, child abuse prevention activities are highly promoted. As we hear in the news all too often, churches and other religious organizations are not immune from incidents of child abuse, such as the sexual abuse of a child. During this year's National Child Abuse Prevention Month, check that your church has the following measures in place to minimize the risk of an incident of child sexual abuse: Six-Month Waiting Period – Require that volunteers be actively involved with your congregation for six months before being allowed to work with children and youth. Birds and Bats: Watch Out for Droppings

bird spring600w
It's time to begin thinking about spring cleaning, and since many churches contain architectural features that birds and bats find appealing, it's important to clean up their waste during this time. For smaller, more manageable amounts of feces, use the following precautions recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): The cleanup should be done by healthy individuals;   Wear an appropriate respirator that can filter particles as small as 0.3 microns;   Wear disposable and protective...

Does your facility have a central station alarm or sprinkler system? Then, please read the important message below! We just wanted to touch base regarding the protective safeguards endorsements that are applicable to all policies receiving a premium discount for the facility having a central station alarm (fire and/or burglar) or sprinkler system. The protective safeguards endorsements exclude coverage if the central station alarm or sprinkler system was not operational at the time of the loss. If the system was rendered inoperable due to the loss or if you were unaware that the system was not functioning at the time of loss, those situations are not excluded. This exclusion applies if you knew that the system was not functioning and/or you had elected to discontinue the service. As a premium discount is provided for having those safeguards in place, it is your responsibility as an insured to advise us if those...
